The weekend flew by, and we had a fabulous time lunching Indian food (check out my Yelp review!), visiting The Legend of Honor Museum, watching Gandhi, working out, and running errands.
After sleeping in and making a dentist appointment on Saturday we found lunch at the India Clay Oven located close by the museum. Man, and was it out of this world! Check out my Yelp review (upper right link) for details ;-), but here's a hint: we definitely became return customers.
The museum was a magnificent and inspiring experience. Hand in hand Eric and I browsed the special exhibit composed by 4 women impressionists. We quickly agreed that Bracquemont and Gonzalez were our favorites, but in general it was moving to learn how these women struggled to pursue their passion for painting in a very male dominated era. Additionally, impressionism was a particularly rebellious expression of art for its time; a time were counter culture created much more fuzz than nowadays. Following, we strolled through the general exhibit where I was reminded of my favorite period in art history, the Rococo. Worcester porcelain, furniture, and paintings from this era simply sweep me away with its sophisticated sense for luxury and ornate humor-inspired eye for detail. Thank you for making me feel light and joyous for 3 hours, until my feet started hurting.
On our way home I was inspired to watch Gandhi, and it was not because of our Indian lunch escapade, but because we had a vigorous discussion about counter cultures, change and rebellious versus pacifist movements while at the museum. Additionally, I had a few days ago listened to Sir Ben Kingsley on NPR as he was interviewed for The Whackness, his latest movie. The interview touched on his performance in Gandhi and how this movie changed his life. This random combination of happenings, influences, and conversation led us later this same evening to study a piece of Oscar-nominated film art that told a story about an idea of change without violence. Thanks for being my favorite partner in crime honey, and I loved our continuous conversation on the subject throughout the day today, Sunday.
Otherwise, today flew by. Between the gym, running errands, getting a pedicure, cooking and cleaning, the minutes simply vaporized, and here I am, 9:30PM Sunday night. I still have a couple of things before I comfortably can call it a night, so off I go. See you soon again and with wishes for a great start to your week too!
